DroneMagic is based on Google’s Android operating system mobile environment. It is designed to operate on Android-based phones and tablets. Android tablets are preferred as they provide a larger viewing screen.

DroneMagic’s application requires an active Wi-Fi connection/Mobile Hotspot for the preflight creation of mapped missions, ATC Authentication, Drone firmware updates and the Start flight command. When the drone is actively executing its mission, the Wi-Fi connection is no longer required.

For DJI Mavic2 Series and Matrice Series drones, the DroneMagic pre-flight software will automatically check your compatible DJI Drone and Remote-Control firmware versions. For all other DJI drone types – excepting Mavic2 and Matrice as outlined above – manually download the DJI Drone Firmware via the DJI Assistant Portal for the latest download is needed.

DroneMagic’s flight app supports DJI’s family of commercial-quality drones including:

    • Mavic Series: Mavic Pro, Mavic Pro Platinum, Mavic 2 Pro (regular + zoom), Mavic 2 Enterprise Zoom, Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual.
    • Matrice Series: Matrice 100, Matrice 200, Matrice 210, Matrice 210 RTK, Matrice 200 V2, Matrice 210 V2, Matrice 210 RTK V2, Matrice 600 Pro
    • Phantom Series: Phantom 3 Professional, Phantom 4, Phantom 4 Advanced, Phantom 4 Pro, Phantom 4 Pro V2.0, Phantom 4 RTK, Phantom 4 Multispectral.

Yes. The DroneMagic mobile app for DJI drones is available in over 120 countries, and data processing is available internationally.

DroneMagic’s application is based on Google Maps software. The application for mission set-up includes definition down to the Google Maps “Street View” level. Each mission map is captured and saved to the post-flight media file for future reference.

DroneMagic supports an unlimited number of missions. If any element within an established flight plan is subsequently modified, then the modification is easily uploaded to DroneMagic’s Cloud Storage through the Options Menu:

    • Select “Back-up Flight Plans to Google Drive”
    • As needed, restore flight plans to other Android mobile devices by selecting the “Download Plan to Google Drive” option.

Drone flights in airspace-controlled areas require FAA authorization Zone permission. Where such permission is required, DroneMagic will auto-detect and launch the DJI Authorization Zone permission screen. When needed, be prepared to enter your DJI User Name and Password.

DroneMagic will automatically check the SD Card in advance of each mission. Where previous mission files are evident and no longer required, the DroneMagic software interface will provide the operator the opportunity to either clear, or keep the files.

The drone UAV unit is placed on a hard surface in a clear area where it can take-off and land. DroneMagic must establish the “Home Base” at the start of each mission. To that end, DJI drones will seek location confirmation by tracking multiple satellites thereby requiring overhead clearance. The drone will return to the “Home Base” at the mission’s end. Note: For optimized obstacle avoidance, the DroneMagic app is designed to ascend and descend vertically.

The DroneMagic mobile app automatically controls the camera’s gimbal tilt and swivel towards a prescribed focal point. Each waypoint segment can provide a unique focal point.

Yes. The DroneMagic application includes a provision to label waypoints. The waypoint identifier is ideal for post flight media identification.

Drone Battery –

Charge the DJI drone’s on-board battery to max. In addition to the main onboard battery, have back-up of at least one (1), but preferable two (2) battery units. After a flight, wait for the drone battery to cool down after your flight before placing it in the recharger unit. This will extend the battery life.

Remote Control (RC) Battery –

Charge the RC unit’s battery to full capacity in advance of each mission. As all batteries eventually degrade, update as needed when you observe that the charge is no longer viable to support a mission.

Android Phone and/or Tablet Battery –

Charge your Android device to the max prior to a mission. The battery must support at least a 30-minute flight.
